The Supreme Court’s decision to end affirmative action is both troubling and misguided. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson summed it up in her dissent: “With let-them-eat-cake obliviousness, today, the majority pulls the ripcord and announces ‘colorblindness for all’ by legal fiat. But deeming race irrelevant in law does not make it so in life.â€
At 91¶¶Òõ’s Aid, we understand the systemic barriers that people of color face at all levels of education – and particularly in higher education. But this ruling will not deter us. Instead, we will redouble our efforts to ensure that all children have the opportunity to receive a quality education from early childhood to college.
